The man behind the clouds : Marwan Shakarchi

Marwan shakarchi is a graffiti artist who was born and raised in London to Iraqi parents, he studied economics in university and used to work for his family business in London, however, after spending 18 years outside the middle east and gained enough experience in several domains, Marwan decided to pay attention to his artistic desires and moved to Dubai to pursue his career as an artist.

The graffiti artist is known for his cloud artworks, he started to make small cloud stickers and put them in London’s streets, by the time ,he worked on developing his art by painting these clouds on walls, this move made people wonder more about him and the messages he’s sending through his clouds.

As he mentioned in his TED TALK speech, his main goal is to produce something to the world in his own manners and ways, to share what he sees and loves with everyone, he wants them to wonder about everything they’re looking at and find meaning through them.

It started with cloud stickers and then became something bigger

Things don’t have to take long period in order to become special or noticeable, the simplest move can turn something regular into special and unique, this is what happened in Marwan’s case, although that he has the talent from earlier period, he couldn’t find a way to express it through the manner he always wished, and by a tinny simple move, through leaving his small clouds whenever he passed by, he finally knew and understood what he wanted to do and what he sought to become.

His clouds stickers and paintings started to be noticed among people, they showed positive feedbacks and a clear interest toward what they’re observing, one thing stayed unclear, “what’s the meaning behind these cloud?

The answer was simple and clear “ I wanted to change the way things looked like” says Marwan in his TED TALK speech, his cloud symbol refers to hope and empowerment, he wanted to own his unique artistic symbol in which holds power meanings that inspire people and add a sense of beauty to the place.

The best part about the cloud street artist is the fact that he’s ready to leave his mark whenever he goes, for him, art is for everyone and should be everywhere regardless the time and circumstances that might occurs or face him.

He simply lives his artistic moments for himself and he loves the fact that there’s no rules in what he’s doing.

his artistic experience and career in Dubai and the middle east

Marwan has wide artistic activities inside the middle east in general, he’s Dubai-based street artist who’s considered to be in the top list of the most inspiring street artists in the UAE, he has done several mural artworks inside the country, adding to awning a studio in Tashkeel.

He was part of various artistic events worldwide, and gained a well reputation among Dubai’s arts communities, in 2012, Marwan was invited to expose his works for the first time in Dubai, as a result, Tashkeel offered him to be part of its community.

He worked in artistic series that were featuring a woman, in which he explained later that it was dedicated to his wife Reem.

Some of his artworks in the UAE was “the Tower of babel”, a work that was done in Abu Dhabi in 2020 at Al Khaleej Al Arabi street.

He has also done a mural work called “there’s an angel to everything” in Sharjah at Al Khan road opposite Al Qasba, adding to his marvelous artworks he made in various streets inside Dubai.

Myneandyours

Marwan has several artistic nicknames, starting from the man behind the clouds, to Myneandyours, the second nickname is could be considered to be an artistic theme or symbol, his website holds it, and most people recognize him by the Myneandyours name.

His artistic passion helped him to get involved in well-known companies and associations, he was invited to create artworks for famous trends inside the UAE and outside it, but most important, he’s one of the most interesting and inspiring graffiti artists inside the region which is indeed a big success for someone who has never attended any art classes in his life.

الرجل وراء الغيوم,مروان شاكارشي

مروان شاكارشي ,هو رسام جرافيتي مولود في لندن من عائلة عراقية,درس الٌإقتصاد في الجامعة واعتاد علي العمل في شركة عائلته المتواجدة في لندن,وبعد مضي 18عام من إقامته خارج الشرق الأوسط وكسب تجربة كافية في مختلف المجالات ,قرر مروان التركيز في تلبية رغباته الفنية حيث قرر الإنتقال إلي دبي للسعي وراء وظيفته كرسام.

يشتهر الفنان برسوماته التي تصور الغيوم,إذ أنه بدء برسم ملصقات صغيرة للغيوم ووضعها في شوارع لندن,ومع مرور الوقت ,عمل علي تنمية فنه عبر الرسم علي الجدران,مما جعل الناس يتسألون عن الشخص وراء ذلك ومحاولة فهم الرسائل المقصودة من ورائها.

وقد أشار في خطاب له علي منصة TED TALKأن هدفه الرئيسي هو إنتاج شيئ ما للعالم من خلال طرقه الخاصة ومشاركة مايراه ويحبه مع الجميع, « إنه يريد الجميع أن يتسألوا عن كل شئ يشاهدونه وإيجاد معني من خلاله« .

بدء الأمر بملصقات للغيوم حتي أصبح شيئا أكبر

إن الأمور لاتحتاج الي وقت أطول حتي تصبح ملحوظا أو فريدا,فحركة بسيطة قادرة علي تحويل شئ عادي إلي شئ فريد وخاص,وهذا ماحدث بالضبط مع مروان,فعلي الرغم من إمتلاكه الموهبة منذ فترة مبكرة إلا أنه لم يجد الوسيلة التي تمني من خلالها التعبير عنها,ولكن حركة بسيطة جعلته يتوصل لما أراده وذلك عبر ترك غيوم صغيرة أينما مر.

لاحظ الناس ملصقاته وكذلك رسوماته وأظهروا ردود أفعال إيجابية وكذلك إهتمام واضح نحو مايرونه,إلا أن أمرا واحدا ظل مبهما غير واضحا ,  » ماهو المقصد وراء هذه الغيوم؟« 

كانت الإجابة سهلة وواضحة « أردت أن أغير الطريقة التي تبدوا بها الأشياء« هكذا قال مروان في خطابه علي منصة TED TALK.

تشير رمز الغيوم للأمل والتمكين,حيث أنه أراد أن يمتلك رمزا فنيا خاص به يحمل معاني قوية قادرة علي إلهام الناس وإضافة إحساس من الجمال للمكان.

الأمر الرائع في رسام الغيوم هو إستعداده الدائم لترك بصمته الفنية أينما ذهب,فالفن بالنسبة له مملوكا للجميع ويتوجب أن يتوجد في كل مكان بغض النظر عن الظروف التي قد تسيطر عليه,إنه ببساطة يعيش لحظاته الفنية من أجله ويقدر بشدة فكرة قيامه بذلك دون قيود تحيط بما يمارسه.

تجربته ومهنته الفنية في دبي والشرق الأوسط

شارك مروان في فعاليات واسعة داخل الشرق الأوسط بشكل عام,فهو يعد رسام شارع مقيما في دبي ,و يتوجد في قائمة أهم فنانين جرافيتي ملهمين داخل الإمارات المتحدة,وقد قام بالعديد من الأعمال الفنية الجدرانية داخل المدينة وذلك بالإضافة لإمتلاكه ستوديو في منصة تشكيل.

شارك في العديد من الفعاليات الفنية العالمية وحصل علي سمعة جيدة من قبل مجتمعات دبي الفنية,وتم دعوته عام 2012لعرض أعماله الفنية لأول مرة في دبي ,نتيجة لذلك,عرض عليه تشكيل موقع في منصته ليكون جزء منه.

عمل في سلسلة فنية عن أمراة,والتي شرح لاحقا بأنها كانت إهداء لزوجته ريم,وذلك إلي جانب بعض أعماله التي قام بها داخل الإمارات المتحدة مثل « برج بابل« ,و« ثمة ملاك في كل شئ« وكذلك باقية أعماله الرائعة المتواجدة داخل المدينة.

مني ومنك

يمتلك مروان العديد من الألقاب الفنية ,بدءا من « الرجل الذي وراء الغيوم« إلي« مني ومنك« ,ويمكن إعتبار اللقب الثاني رمزا أو موضوعا فنيا,كما انه هو اسمه المستخدم داخل شبكة الإنترنت وموقعه الإلكتروني,ويشتهر بهذا الإسم من قبل العديد من الناس.

لقد ساعده الشغف نحو الفن علي مشاركه والعمل مع شركات ومؤسسات معروفة ,وتم دعوته للعمل مع ماركات مرموقة داخل الإمارات المتحدة وخارجها,والأهم من ذلك هو إعتباره واحد من أهم رسامين الجرافيتي داخل المنطقة,وهذا يعد نجاح مبهر لشخص لم يتلقي أي دروس فنية قط في حياته.
