Dubai’s most influencer artists : Mattar Ben Lahej

An Emirati, self- taught painter, calligrapher, photographer and sculptor who has started his artistic career earlier, he was always interested in the artistical word and wanted to be good in what he’s passionate about, and the masterpieces that we’re observing now from his artworks is a result of a very long journey of learning and improving himself through what relates to the world of art .

A Multitalented figure :

Mattar Ben Lahej wasn’t only interested in one sort of art, in fact he succeeded to feed his passion by learning different types of it, he obtained the chance to collect all his talents together and create a special world which could amuse you and take your breath away.

His multiply talents helped him to reach the global world of artists and to gain a good reputation in that field as well.

He was influenced by different artists such as the painter Abdul Qader Al rais, and also known to be a big fan of Salvador dali, however, despite all that impact that he had over those remarkable artists,Mattar tends to have his own special style, avoiding any form of resemblance to another artist’s work.

A very unique style :

Mattar has managed to develop his own style, and you can see it from his various artworks, they show a clear explored, developed, and nurtured talent and style.

He managed to show the world that to be a good and impressive artist doesn’t necessarily need to have an academic experiences in the art field, it just needs the courage to think and learn through one’s own practices and mistakes ,to have patience during the whole journey and progress, and to stay hunger when it comes to creating more art works.

the presence of the Arabic theme occurs in most of his works, starting from painting speed horses to Arabic calligraphy, Mattar wants to be part of this society by living his art marks in it, and revives its Arabic culture through art.

Contributing in increasing Dubai’s artistic environment:

“Art beautify cities, it creates understanding and it gives esteem to a society “. Mattar said.

His vision toward art is that it doesn’t only effect on the artist’s life but it supposed to impact on people’s lives as well in various ways.

We have art to add meaning to our lives, we need to embodies it in every step we take in our societies, and I believe that Mattar had a remarkable and significant role when it comes to spreading art in Dubai by enriching art movement inside it, furthermore, he’s the owner of the “sketch studio”, in which artists from different background can gather and make art, he also has an art gallery in which you can find most of his masterpieces.

Through his artistic journeys, he has participated in many exhibitions in Dubai and outside, and always was valuated as an inspiring artist, locally and internationally.

Moreover, he has contributed in several projects that are considered extremely inspiring in Dubai and add a special feature to the city, some of this project was about Arabic calligraphy and sculptures, like the Aya installation at city walk.

إنه الرسام,المخطط,المصور والنحات المتعلم ذاتيا والذي بدء مسيرته الفنية مبكرا:مطر بن لاحج.

كان مهتما بعالم الفن وأراد أن يكون الأفضل فيما هو شغوف به,و التحف الفنية التي نشاهدها من أعماله الأن لهي نتيجة رحلة طويلة نحو تعليم وتحسين نفسه في كل ما له علاقة بالفن.

شخصية ذات مواهب متعددة

لم يكن الفنان مطر بن لاحج مهتم بنوع واحد من الفن فحسب,في الواقع لقد نجح في إشباع شغفه من خلال تعلم نوعيات مختلفة منه,وقد حصل علي فرصة جمع جميع مواهبه الفنية معا,وخلق منها عالم متميز حيث بإمكانه إدهاشك و سلب أنفاسك بعيدا .

إن مواهبه المتعددة ساعدته علي الوصول لعالم الفنانين العالميين وكذلك كسب سمعة جيدة في ذلك المجال.

ومن الجدير بالذكر أنه تأثر بفنانين متعددين في حياته,منهم الرسام عبد القادر الريس,كما أنه معروفا بكونه معجب كبير بالرسام الأسطوري سالفادور دالي,ورغم تأثيره الكبير بهؤلاء الفنانين وبغيرهم,أحرص الرسام مطر علي إمتلاك أسلوبه الخاص,متجنبا اي شكل من أشكال التشبه بأعمال فنانين أخرين.

أسلوب فريد

تمكن مطر من تطوير أسلوبه الخاص وتحسينه,ويمكن للمرء رؤية ذلك في أعماله المختلفة,إنها توضح أسلوب إبداعي مستكشف ومتطور,لقد نجح في إظهار للعالم أنه ليس من الضروري الحصول علي تجربة أكاديمية فنية ليكون المرء فنان مميز,بل يحتاج فقط إلي الشجاعة للتفكير والتعلم من خلال أخطائه الخاصة وكذلك الممارسة,وأيضا إمتلاك الصبرخلال رحلة التعلم وأثناء عملية الممارسة ذاتها.

إن حضور الجانب العربي في معظم أعماله الفنية بارز,و ذلك بدءا من رسم الخيول العربية السريعة وصولا إلي الخط العربي,يريد مطر أن يكون جزءا من هذا المجتمع من خلال ترك علامته وريشته الفنية داخله وكذلك إعادة إحياء ثقافته العربية من خلال الفن.

المساهمة في إثراء بيئة دبي الفنية

« إن الفن يُجّمل المُدن,ويخلق التفاهم ,كما أنه يعطي للمجتمع إحتراما« هكذا قال مطر.

إن رؤيته الفنية هو أن الفن لايؤثر علي حياة الفنان فحسب بل يفترض أن يمتد أثاره إلي المجتمع أيضا بطرق متعددة.

لدينا الفن ليُضيف معني لحياتنا ,ونحن بحاجة إلي تجسيده في كل خطوة نتخذها في مجتمعاتنا,وأعتقد أنه عندما يتعلق الأمر بنشر الفن في دبي,فإن لمطر بن لاحج دورا مهما وبارزا في ذلك,وذلك من خلال تزويدها بالأنشطة الفنية المختلفة والتي تساعد علي إعداد جيل شغوف بالفن,فهو يعد مالك « سكتش ستوديو« ,حيث يجتمع فيه فنانين من خلفيات مختلفة للرسم,كما أنه يمتلك معرض فني و بإمكانك مشاهدة أغلبية أعماله داخله.

لقد شارك كذلك في معارض متعددة داخل دبي وخارجها ويعد من الفنانين المؤثرين دوليا ومحليا .

إضافة لذلك,فقد ساهم مطر في مشاريع مختلفة والتي تعد مؤثرة لدبي وأضافت ملامح فريدة في المدينة,بعض من تلك المشاريع كانت متعلقة بالخط العربي مثل القطعة الفنية المدهشة « أية« والمتواجدة في ممشي المدينة وبعضها كانت منحوتات .
