Daniel Arsham : One of the most inspiring contemporary sculptors in the USA

Standing Infront of one of Daniel Arsham’s works you will feel small, a different sort of world in which takes your breath away, you become part of this strange fictional world, taken by every object you observe, it’s playing games with your brain and soul, and slowly you relate to that world and start to embrace it with its chaotic and peaceful moments.

Daniel Arsham is an American multidisciplinary artist, whom considered to be one of the most inspiring contemporary sculpture in the USA, he was born and lived in Miami, growing up around very strange conditions and surrounded by inspiring environment Daniel has always opened his eyes to receive all that experiences and muses, he then kept them inside his soul and imagination in which reached him into a spectacular level of artistic maturity.

In 1992 after a hurricane incident in which caused lot of damages in his city, Daniel gained a significant knowledge about buildings and observed each piece of the collapsed houses in which has inspired him in very unique way and left an impressive mark in his career.

Daniel’s Artistic experience and practice

Arsham went to an architecture and engineering school called “Cooper union” in New York City, there, he studied painting, sculpture and film, he primarily focused on painting, concentrated on painting fictional architecture landscapes.

His first artistic experience career was working with the choreographer Merce Cunningham when he was only 24 years old in a piece called “Eye Space”, he was invited to create a stage design for dance performances with no experience in stage design, he accepted the offer and jumped up into that opportunity in which has played a remarkable role in his whole artistic career , thereafter, Daniel started to get invitations to work with renowned companies.

In 2007, the artist has collaborated with Jonah Bokaer in a choreography performance in which was inspired by Arsham’s work, and this commission was followed with another several collaborations between the two.

Besides all these previous collaborations in which Arsham was part of, he has received various commissions for big brands and company such as Adidas, Dior, and more, he also worked with famous figures and personalities during his artistic journey.

He owns a studio located at New York City in which he enjoys creating his spectacular pieces of art.

Arsham’s artistic theme and style

Daniel’s artistic subject depicts every day’s daily objects in magic artistic way, white and gray are the colors in which take control in most of his sculptures artworks, it’s very rare to find a piece of art belongs to Daniel that’s full of colors whatsoever, and I think that it adds a mysterious sense in his works in very pleasant way.

The impact of the hurricane incident in wish he witnessed occurs in most of his artworks, a reflection of collapsing objects and broken ones in which could explain the harsh experience that he observed during the mentioned incident.

Arsham tends to showcase the past, the present in his artworks, in each piece you will see something from nowadays’ daily objects, but somehow holds a sensation of the past and being a part of an ancient materials that belongs to a museum.

He uses various materials to create his masterpieces, he even used a volcano ash besides crystal and precious stones and more.

Daniel’s artistic style is very unique, he has a wide imagination and incredible mind that leads him to create dazzling works, he manipulates things through art, adding to his clearly tendency to show his experience of architecture through his creativity and works.

The impressing fact about the artist is the message in which he delivers from his artworks, he uses objects that are globally known, things that everyone will feel connected to despite the difference of languages, countries or backgrounds.

Besides sculpture, he also worked in films projects, one of them called Future Relic.

He has participated in vary artistic shows worldwide, and his works are well appreciated in the artistic community inside and outside the USA.

دانيال أرشام فنان أمريكي متعدد المواهب,ويعد واحد من أهم النحاتين المعاصرين الملهمين داخل الولايات المتحدة,ولد وترعرع في ميامي,ونشأ حول ظروف غريبة للغاية ,وكان محاط ببيئة ملهمة حيث فتح أعينه لإستقبال كل تلك التجارب ومصادر الوحي,قام بالإحتفاظ بكل ذلك داخل روحه ومخيلته حيث قادته لمرحلة مذهلة من النضج الفني.

في عام 1992,وبعد وقوع حادثة إعصار تسبب بضرر كبير في المدينة,كسب دانيال معرفة هامة حول المباني وراقب كل جزء من البيوت المدمرة والتي ألهمته بطريقة فريدة وتركت علامة مبهرة في عمله.

تجربة وممارسة دانيال الفنية

التحق دانيال بمدرسة هندسة يطلق عليها « كوبر يونيون« في مدينة نيويورك,هناك,تعلم الرسم,النحت وكذلك السينما,لكنه في البداية ركز علي رسم مناظر طبيعية خيالية.

كانت تجربته الفنية الأولي,العمل مع مصمم الرقص Merce Cunninghamفي عمل فني معروف بإسم “Eye Space”,وكان حيناذاك قد بلغ الرابعة والعشرون من العمر,تم استدعاءه لتصميم مسرحي لأداء رقص,ولم يكن يمتلك أي تجربة يذكر في ذلك المجال,وقد وافق العرض ثم استغل تلك الفرصة والذي لعبت دورا مهما في مسيرته الفنية بأكمله,فبعد ذلك,قام بإستقبال دعوات للعمل مع مؤسسات مشهورة.

في عام 2007,تعامل الفنان مع Jonah Bokaerفي أداء رقص والذي كان وحي عمل أرشام الفني بالكامل ,وقد تتبع هذا العمل مشاركات متعددة مابين الإثنين.

إلي جانب كل هذه المشاركات المذكورة الذي كان دانيال جزء منها,تلقي العديد من الأعمال لعلامات تجارية ومؤسسات كبيرة كأديداس,وديور والمزيد,وقام بالعمل مع شخصيات مشهورة خلال رحلته الفنية .

يمتلك استوديو في مدينة نيويورك حيث يستمتع القيام بأعماله الفنية المبهرة داخله.

أسلوب وموضع أرشام الفني

يتناول موضوع دانيال الفني الأدوات اليومية بطريقة فنية ساحرة,ويستحوذ اللونان الرمادي والأبيض علي أغلب منحوتاته,ومن النادر جدا أن تجد عمل فني ملون لدانيال,وهذا يضيف شيئ من الشعور بالغموض في أغلبية أعماله.

ويظهر تأثره بحادثة الإعصار الذي عاشها الفنان في معظم أعماله,إنعكاس لأشياء منهارة ومكسورة تقوم بشرح التجربة القاسية التي شاهدها أثناء الحادثة المذكورة.

يميل أرشام نحو عرض الماضي والحاضر في أعماله الفنية,ففي كل قطعة ستري شيئا ينتمي لأدوات الحاضر,لكنه يحمل بطريقة ما إحساس بالماضي وكونه جزء من الأشياء القديمة التي تنتمي إلي المتاحف.

يقوم بإستخدام لوازم متعددة لإنتاج أعماله الفنية,فهو يستخدم رماد البركان إلي جانب الكريستال وأحجار قيمة والمزيد.

يعد أسلوب دانيال الفني فريد للغاية,فهو يمتلك مخيلة واسعة وعقل بارع يقوم بقيادته للقيام بأعمال مبهرة,إنه يتلاعب بالأشياء من خلال الفن,وذلك بالإضافة لميله الواضح لإظهار تجربته الهندسية من خلال مهاراته وأعماله.

إن الأمر الأكثر إثارة للإهتمام المتعلق بالفنان لهي الرسالة التي يقوم بتوصيلها عبر أعماله الفنية,فهو يقوم بإستخدام أشياء معروفة دوليا,أشياء يشعر الجميع بأنهم متصلون بها رغم إختلاف اللغة أو الدول أو الخلفيات الإجتماعية.

يقوم دانيال بالعمل في مجال السينما ولديه بعض من مشاريع أفلام واحدة منها يسمي Future Relic, قام بالمشاركة في العديد من البرامج الفنية عالميا,ويتم تقدير أعماله الفنية في المجتمع الفني داخل الولايات المتحدة وخارجها.
